Department of Revenue Releases Truth-In-Taxation Instructions

The Minnesota Department of Revenue (MNDOR) recently issued Truth-In-Taxation information and instructions that reflect changes to state truth-in-taxation laws. The new law was passed by the Legislature in 2021 and will be in effect for the 2022 budget year. The new law applies to all cities over 500 in population and requires cities to separately include specific information relating to governmental revenue and expenditure categories. The law does not include any penalty for local governments that fail to comply with the new requirements. Click HERE to see the MNDOR’s information on the new requirements. Metro Cities will provide any updated information and instructions as it becomes available. Contact Patricia Nauman at 651-215-4002 or [email protected] with any questions.
