Legislative Policy Committees Begin
Metro Cities’ policy process began late July with the first meetings of the four policy committees. Meetings included policy reviews, speakers, and initial discussion on potential policy modifications and topics. Lead Safe Homes Grant Program Application is Open
The Lead Safe Homes Grant Program through Minnesota Housing Finance Agency seeks to make homes safer through funding for risk assessment and remediation of hazards related to lead. Local governments and nonprofits are eligible for this one-time $4 million appropriation. The program requires 50% of the units in multifamily properties to be occupied by renters at or below 60% of the area median income, prioritizes areas with a high concentration of children with lead poisoning, and allows up to 10% of the award to be used for administration, education, and outreach about lead hazards.
The RFP for this program is now open, and applications will be due on Wednesday, September 30, 2026. You can find the program guide HERE, and more information and how to apply HERE.
Minnesota Housing will be hosting two information sessions via Microsoft Teams to support potential applicants with any questions before submitting an RFP application.
