Transportation Advisory Board (TAB) Openings

Metro Cities is seeking candidates for the Transportation Advisory Board (TAB) for two municipal seats that will become open in January. The TAB qualifies the region for federal transportation funds and is a participant in the 3C transportation processes that affect transportation planning and funding in the metro region.

Municipal appointees must be elected officials, and Metro Cities’ guidelines place a priority on making the TAB balanced for city size and geography. There are no term limits for TAB seats, but members are reappointed every two years and must meet attendance requirements to qualify for reappointment. The guidelines used by the Board in making appointments also give preference to those who agree to serve on the Metro Cities Transportation Policy Committee.

The deadline for application is Friday, December 6, 2019. Interested candidates should submit (1) a completed questionnaire, (2) a letter of interest and (3) resume to Kim Ciarrocchi at [email protected] or by mail to Metro Cities at 145 University Avenue W, St. Paul, MN 55103.

WEBINAR: DEED Redevelopment Program – December 5

DEED is making $4 million in Redevelopment Grant and Demolition Loan Funds available for the February 2020 Grant Round. In advance of the February 3, 2020 application deadline, DEED is hosting an informational webinar on December 5, 2019.

The webinar will provide information about the Redevelopment Grant Program and Demolition Loan Program, including eligible applicants (cities and economic development authorities) and activities, and projects that will compete well for grant or loan funds.

Redevelopment Grant funds assist with the cost of demolition and abatement; as well as other project-related improvements, such as soil stabilization and site preparation related infrastructure that is necessary for redeveloping blighted property. Demolition Loan funds help public entities demolish and abate blighted structures in order to eliminate a public safety threat and prepare the site for potential future development.

An overview of the programs is available at www.mn.gov/deed, along with applications, forms and instructions.

The deadline for applying for the next round of funding is 4 pm on Monday, February 3, 2020.
