RSVP for Metro Cities Policy Adoption Meeting November 17th!

Metro Cities’ legislative policies will receive final adoption at the Policy Adoption Meeting on Thursday, November 17th at 4:00 p.m. The meeting will be virtual and will feature keynote speakers Brian Bakst, MN Public Radio, and Briana Bierschbach, Star Tribune, who will discuss the November elections and upcoming session. THC Web Page

Metro Cities has developed a web page providing resources for city officials and staff related to the change in Minnesota law allowing certain edible and beverage products infused with tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) to be sold. The page contains links to the law, agency-developed guides on THC products, resources from the League of Minnesota Cities regarding employment concerns, and more. The page will be regularly updated as new information becomes available. The page can be found under the Policies & Resources tab on the Metro Cities website. Climate Resilience Grant Opportunity

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) is accepting grant applications from communities across the state to support climate planning projects. Cities are eligible to apply, along with other local governments, tribes, soil and water conservation districts, water management organizations, and the Metropolitan Council. Applications are due no later than 4:00 PM on January 12, 2023.

The MPCA has $395,000 available to help local governments assess vulnerabilities and plan for the effects of climate change in three areas:

  1. Improving stormwater resilience and reducing localized flood risk.
  2. Improving the resilience of wastewater systems.
  3. Adapting community services, ordinances, and public spaces.
